Rx Entry

Proprietary software models thickness and compensated power for both traditional and digital lens designs. Rx accesses extensive data files to produce precise work orders with layout calculations, machine settings, graphics, and special features streamlining the order–processing. Rx Graphics provides on–size display of the lens with cut–out, optical center, segment location, cross section, weight in grams, and critical lens–thickness values. It's laboratory proven across the US, Canada, and Europe.

The entry screen is organized with the fields in the same order as the lab's Rx form to facilitate easy, consistent entry. This form method allows the entire prescription to be typed on one page and visually checked by the operator prior to entry into the system. The program checks fields for reasonableness and completeness, and order entry operators are prompted for completeness of Rx. For instance, a sphere power of +50.00 diopters or +5.81 diopters can be prohibited to prevent entry errors. Fast, precise entry is also enhanced by not having to type the most common items, such as single vision lens style or clear lens color. This method of order entry allows operators to be trained quickly, and is enhanced by "help functions" so operators can read on the screen what is a valid entry for the field they are on, thus training themselves.

Rx Workticket

This form is designed to be an in–house job ticket rather than an invoice to be sent to the account with the job. The workticket is printed with a laser printer on standard 8.5 x 11" stock paper, or displayed on a computer monitor for review. The VISION pattern database allows the system to know exactly how patterns are shaped. This feature enables precision in thickness computations, lens cut–out, and layout. These graphic representations are invaluable in analyzing jobs. They show locations of the optical center (o), seg center (.), thin edge (e), and thick edge (E), thereby giving the operator a complete picture of the job. They are extremely useful in training employees and accounts on geometrical optics. When the workticket is displayed on a computer monitor, additional information is provided by holding the mouse pointer over various parts of the workticket or graphic. This example shows the lens thickness at the OC and the coordinates measured from the lens blank center.

Subcontracting

VISION allows labs to set up parameters to outsource jobs fitting certain criteria. Jobs fitting these criteria are marked to be sent out along with an indication of the destination vendor. Alternatively, these jobs may be routed automatically as they enter the lab, keeping handling to an absolute minimum.
